Baby Boy's Adventure Nursery Decor
When we found out we were having a baby boy, my heart was elated. As much as I love all things floral and bows galore, I wanted to also experience the boy world that comes with raising a son. I am so eternally grateful to have the opportunity to raise one of each and decorate two completely different nurseries. To see our baby girl's room, check out my Baby Girl Boho Floral Nursery post.
When deciding on a theme for the nursery, I came up with Plan A down to the colors, theme, crib, dresser, rocker, and decor. I was going to use this adorable Babyletto Lolly 3-in-1 Convertible Crib along with dark sage greens, whites, natural wood, tans/camel colors, and accent it with either the big tropical palm leaf decor that seems to be everywhere right now or a rustic adventure theme. But then I found a fun coastal driftwood furniture set for a fraction of the cost that changed my plans completely. Back to the store went the first crib and ideas, and out came this Evolurâ„¢ Waverly 5-in-1 Convertible Crib in Weathered White and driftwood furniture that worked much better with my new vision. You can find the crib either at BuyBuy Baby or on Amazon!
Our first project was creating this wooden accent feature wall. This project was much easier and faster than I imagined as we completed it in a weekend!

We played around with different artwork to display above the crib as we didn't want it to take away from the feature wall but rather all flow seamlessly together. Our first plan was this fun "Adventure Awaits" canvas that worked pretty well and was a great option.
After a little more thought, we decided to have something more personal above his crib, so we found a very talented shop called Gobble Grove and they made the cutest custom sign for above his crib. We couldn't be more thrilled with how it turned out! Check them out on Facebook!
The white shiplap and grey stain around the sign and on his Gracen name tied in the coastal decor perfectly.
To bring in a little more coastal vibe, we hung this beach driftwood garland from the ceiling. I found these fun pieces at HomeGoods as one big long garland strand, but cut it down to 3 pieces of varying lengths to add some interest and dimension to the corner of the room.
I hung these with the toggle hooks that came in the package for these Ceiling Swag Hooks. They were super easy to hang and completely sturdy and safe.
On the other side of the room, I created our cozy reading nook, complete with this cozy chenille throw blanket from Target, Night Stand, and books.
From the customized, cozy and adorable Storytime Series Best Chairs rocking chair and matching ottoman (find a similar style and half the price Glider Rocking Chair on Amazon) to the bookshelves and baskets filled with books, this little corner is perfect for a snuggle and afternoon or nighttime read!
I added this pillow from HomeGoods and our go to "Mr. Bear" which was a special gift from a close family/friend. They gave our daughter "Mr. Bear" when she was born, and she loved it so much that her brother also received one when he was born! It is so cozy and soft, and she sleeps with it every night.
I found these rustic Mesh Galvanized Bookshelves at Hobby Lobby and filled them with all the best books! They were super easy tor hang and have a mesh open back which makes them cute to display open too.
The bookshelves are filled with books about adventure, family, love, faith, and anything cute with a polar bear! Our current favorite books are The Wonderful Things You Will Be, I Love You to the Moon and Back, Be Brave Little One, I Wish You More, I've Loved You Since Forever, Who Sang the First Song? and I will Love You Forever. I also have to throw in my kids' newest favorite, Eli Elephant Works Through Emotions, as I worked with child therapists and OT's and poured my heart and soul into creating the Pals with Purpose children's series the last few years which has sweet lessons and charming stories kids and parents can relate to and learn from! I'd be so thrilled if you checked it out and our future books from the Giving Heart Books collection. There's also TONS of kids' activities and learning resources on my website, thegivingheartbooks.com!
Ok, shameless plug done, thanks for bearing with me!

Fun Tip, if you haven't signed up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, make sure to do so! If you're in one of the covered areas, your child can receive a free book every month!
The Night Stand matches the rest of the furniture. The lamp and pictures frames were fun finds from HomeGoods. I still need to insert some of baby boy's newborn pictures into the frames.
On the other side of the room is one of my favorite wall collages. Hobby Lobby and HomeGoods are great places to find adventure themed decor items, as well as any decor for your home or nursery. To incorporate the blue accent wall, we painted the front of the letter J, the Explore sign, and pot of succulents the same blue as the wall.
We had this scripture verse "For this child I have prayed" made for our daughter's room too, so I was thrilled to find it already created on beach drift wood sign which coordinated well with the furniture. Check out this adorable sign, "For this child, we have prayed" and for a great price too.
I had an extra piece of wood from the furniture so used my Silhouette Cameo machine to make the sign, "Oh the places you'll go!" This was a Mother's Day gift for me and is probably the best gift I've ever received as I have made countless mama t-shirts for my friends and myself, onesies for the kids, vinyl'd wine glasses and thermos bottles, birthday decor and signage, and so many other fun projects. It paid for itself in the first month of me using it! This Silhouette Cameo Starter Set Bundle comes with all the tools you'll need, vinyl, t-shirt vinyl, transfer paper, and more! I couldn't recommend it more for all you crafty mamas!

The driftwood dresser was similar to this 6-Drawer Seaside SouthShore Dresser. We updated the hardware on the furniture to knobs and pulls with a brushed nickel finish. The furniture required you to put it together, but we finished putting the pieces together in a day's time, and for the low price tag, we couldn't be happier! They also have a matching cute Changing Table with Drawers and Night Stand.

Love this sign and so glad I found a spot for it in the nursery!
This navy globe from HomeGoods adds a fun decorative piece that also facilitates learning for the kiddos as they get older. Find a similar Globe here!
After much searching and trial and error for the perfect curtain color, we finally found these neutral curtains from HomeGoods that coordinated well with the walls and furniture. Behind these curtains we have these amazing Black Out Curtains which are a Godsend when you are sleep training or have a child that doesn't nap or sleep well unless the room is dark. We have these in every bedroom and guest room in our home! To do the same trick, just make sure to buy curtains with grommets so you can overlap the two curtains on the rod.
We found both of our crib sheets at Pottery Barn, and they blended perfectly with the nursery colors. This adorable Jellycat Polar Bear is waiting for little guy to join him in the crib soon! My daughter (and I) are the biggest fans of Jellycat Stuffed Animals. Not only are they so stinkin' precious, but they are so incredibly soft. She has at least 4 JellyCats in her crib with her whenever she naps and takes one with her whenever she goes "bye bye" for an outing. The pillow is just for picture purposes (I know the rule, nothing in crib except baby...) but it looked cute for the pic!
Of course we love a good collection of swaddle blankets and even more stuffed animals! This Vermont Teddy Bear (in the back) was a special gift from a friend. It is the cutest little thing, well made, arrives in an adorable box with an air hole for the bear, and even has a teddy bear hospital that you can send the bear to for life for any incidents or repairs!
My favorite Swaddle Blankets are the aden + anais Swaddle Blankets. They are soft, lightweight, come in a variety of colors and patterns, and the perfect size to master a good swaddle without baby pulling a Houdini and wiggling out. They also double as quick nursing covers or car seat covers.
These Adjustable Wall & Door Organizer Racks are one of my favorite things ever made! For those with limited storage space, these are a huge help and add instant easy storage options! We use them behind our nursery closet doors, on our bathroom closet doors, in the laundry room, and behind our kitchen pantry doors. They are so great to keep things organized and to add a little extra space!
